Prevention Services
Our Seven Counties Services Regional Prevention center is one of the fourteen in Kentucky that works to prevent and reduce substance misuse and suicide within our communities. The Regional Prevention Center brings together adult and youth community volunteers with state and local policy makers, social service providers, educational staff, public health personnel, business and church leaders, and law enforcement representatives to work towards that overall goal.
The Regional Prevention Center collaborates and builds successful partnerships for a strong and healthy community. View or download our Substance Misuse Resource Toolkit, which is a prevention guide for the communities we serve.
Kentucky Moms
An educational program for women who are pregnant or have recently given birth, who are at risk, or who struggle with substance use. The program teaches participants how to make healthy choices during pregnancy, discusses resources available to them in their community, and offers incentives for attending. By engaging in prevention education, intensive case management, substance use treatment, and other needed services, mothers can provide their children with a healthier, safer start to life!
Project Link
A FREE program for pregnant women who are using alcohol and/or drugs. The program provides case management and peer support services that can help mother and baby connect with community resources, including filming OB/GYN care, transportation to doctor visits, housing assistance, mental health, and addiction treatment services, education on the use of alcohol and/or drugs, and assistance in obtaining baby items.
Early Intervention Program (EIP)
A program for youth ages 13-20 who are at risk for or may already be experiencing problems related to substance use. Services include an initial screening to determine the level of involvement with alcohol and drugs. This screening then helps find placement for educational classes that cover alcohol, tobacco, and other drug information topics and helps understand the risk associated with substance use. If necessary, assistance in finding other counseling and community services is provided.
Zero-Tolerance Under 21 DUI Program (ZT)
Provides services to young people between the ages of 16-20 who have been charged with state regulation KRS 189A.010(1)(e), with a Zero Tolerance under 21 DUI offense. The services provided are like those described above for the Early Intervention Program, with an additional emphasis on impaired driving.
Screening Brief Intervention Referral to Treatment (SBIRT)
An evidence-based practice used to identify, reduce, and prevent problematic use, misuse, and dependence on alcohol and illicit drugs. SBIRT is a screening tool used by medical and mental health professionals in clinical and non-clinical settings. SBIRT helps us rethink how we understand substance use, redefine how we identify substance use problems, and re-design how we treat substance use problems.
Prime for Life (PFL)
A motivational intervention used in group settings to prevent alcohol and drug problems or provide early intervention. The program is provided in a few versions ranging from 4.5 to 20 hours, and optional activities are available to guide use with various populations. PFL makes a point of changing participants’ perceptions of the risk of substance use and related attitudes and beliefs. Participants are guided in self-assessing their level of progression toward or into dependence or addiction. Develops a detailed plan for successfully following through with the behavior change.
